Trust in God

Definition:-
a. Hebrew: Trust, refuge, confidence, hope, sure, shelter, place of refuge, believe, faithful, remain steadfast, give credence, lean on, be bold, trust safely, roll on, devolve, abide, look for, rest, stay, tarry, wait carefully, wait with hope, to be pained.
b. Greek: Trust, confidence, love hope, hope for, things hoped for, wax confident, persuade, make ones friend, believe, to hope first before others. Prov 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. This means, to confide in, so as to be secure and without fear. Begin, continue, and end every work, purpose, and plan with God. True religion is the acknowledgment of God in all human affairs.

2 Cor 3:1-6 You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on your hearts, to be known and read by all men; and you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone; but on tablets of human hearts. Such is (our trust) the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to claim anything as coming from us; our sufficiency is from God, who has qualified us to be ministers of a New Covenant, not in a written code but in the Spirit; for the written code kills, but the Spirit gives life. Eph 3:12 In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Trust)

Trust; Believing; Faith:
Believe:- Definition: Adjective: Believing, trusting, faithful, trustworthy.
Verb: To believe, to be persuaded of, to place confidence in, to trust, reliance
upon, to build up, or support. This verb is related to Faith, meaning to have confidence in. In the New Testament, it often has the force of “Obey” e.g. Believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15) (1 Thess 2:13) Obey the Gospel (Rom 10:16) (2 Thess 1:8) (1 Pet 4:17) (Rom 1:5)

When believe is used with God or Christ as its’ object, it means 3 things:
1. to assert to the truth of what He says or make known
2. to receive and trust Him personally
3. to commit oneself to Him in Obedience. e.g. Acts 16:31

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
Heb 11:6 He that cometh to God must believe that He is. (James 2:19)
Believing depends on divine revelation in the personal and written word. Believing is thus the human response to the initiation God has taken in His redemptive acts, which are made known to men by the written and preached word. (Rom 10:13;15-17)
(John 17:20) Faith is a response to grace, it involves no element of merit. We are not saved by Faith, but through Faith. (Eph 2:8-9)

Faith is a New Testament word. It occurs only twice in the Old Testament.(Deut 32:30) (Hab 2:4) Faith in the active sense is the equivalent of the Old Testament word trust.
(Rom 1:17)(Gal 3:11)(Heb 2:4)

NB!! Knowledge is necessary for Faith. (Rom 10:17) Faith commeth by hearing the word preached and understanding the word of God. So faith is from a report, but the report through the word of God. The Greek word fro hearing means speech.

Faith comes from preaching the things heard, and preaching comes to be through the message, command, order, direction, of Christ.

NB!! Thus you must hear from Christ for faith to arise.
Believing may carry no commitment with it. Faith is not just having understanding. Saving faith involves active personal trust, a commitment of Oneself to the Lord Jesus Christ.

DR C.I SCOFIELD SAYS:
Faith which does not impel to action, which does not result in a changed relation to God and Christ, which does not work transformingly in life, is not biblical Faith.
Unbelief everywhere in the Bible is equated with disobedience. (John 3:36) and is considered the most serious of sins. (Heb 3:12-18)
(Heb 11:1) Now faith is the assurance of things. {substance, support ground work, confidence, reality, Trust essence} not seen. (The making real of God’s promises in ones own experience.) This is a description of True Faith, not a definition.

NB!! Faith is trust in the unseen, not a trust in the Unknown. For we may know by faith that which we cannot see with the eye.
Believeth is the act or process of Faith and must be continued in to get its’ benefits.

Hope is translated as trust, as a verb. Hope is thus said to be directed to; and to center in a person. Hope is associated with affliction and patience. Affliction is sure to come on the Faithful, it produces patience, (Rom 5:3-5) and patience hope. Such hope is an anchor for the soul (Heb 6:18) Hope in such a context is synonymous with trust in God. A certainty lying beyond Earthly doubt.
